September 21, 2021: Version 1.1.4 is available to campus affiliated people to download through UofI Box.

  • Version 1.1.4 highlights are enabling “Align Wide” options for the Featured Image, Image Block, and all blocks that support the Align option. This alignment option allow blocks to go all the way to the edge of the browser window, beyond the normal “page” width. This version also increases the parity between editing view of a page/post in the block editor and viewing it on your site as well as multiple improvements to the layout of search results and category pages (category, keyword and by date lists).

June 18, 2021: Version 1.1.3 is released

  • Version 1.1.3 highlights are adding a dashboard notification for when theme updates are available, addressing some bugs in the Media & Text and Cover blocks, improving back-end performance

March 26, 2021: Version 1.1.2 is released

  • Version 1.1.2 is a bug fix release fixing an issue with menus displaying behind the page content and adding a label to the search form for improved accessibility.

Illinois Theme for installation on WordPress on cPanel or other hosts

cPanel and Softaculous

When using Softaculous to install WordPress within cPanel, the University of Illinois 2020 theme will be installed automatically. You can select a different theme to install and activate during or after installation if you prefer. The UofI 2020 theme will still be among your available themes if you decide to try it out later.

Manual installation

To download a copy of the Illinois Theme, you’ll need to be a member of the University of Illinois (or partner with someone who is). The current release will always be available to download from UofI Box at https://go.illinois.edu/uofiwptheme. This is the recommended download method for most users.

Downloading from GitHub

The code is also available to university community members via GitHub. This method is intended for users who wish to contribute code to the theme. Learn about contributing and accessing the code via GitHub.
